Canute Public Schools has become unstoppable in Oklahoma Scholastic Esports, offering competitive gaming opportunities to 4th through 12th-grade students.
With teams excelling this fall season, Canute’s commitment to Esports has enriched its students’ experiences and increased its reputation for success.
Three Canute teams have qualified for the Oklahoma Scholastic Esports State Championship at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Two middle school teams will compete on December 6th, while the high school team will show off their skills on December 16th.
Middle School College Football Team
Hudson Beck, an exceptional 7th grader, has carried Canute’s Middle School College Football team to a new level this season. Competing solo in the playoffs, Beck finished the regular season undefeated with a 9-0 record and continued his claim in the postseason with a 3-0 run. His perfect 12-0 season earned him the #1 seed at the Middle School State Championship on December 6th, 2024. Hudson will face tough competition in a best-of-three series starting at noon.
Middle School Halo Infinite Tactical Slayer Team: The Banished Banshees
The Banished Banshees, comprising 8th grader Corbin Harbin and 7th graders Colt Shelton, Ryder Hoffman, and Adrian Cortez, have dominated their Halo Infinite Tactical Slayer matches this season. Finishing the regular season 9-0 and adding two playoff wins, they also boast an undefeated 11-0 record. The Banshees will face Blackwell Middle School, another undefeated team, in a high-stakes best-offive match on December 6th at 2:30 pm. This matchup will be an intense battle between two of the best teams.
High School Team: The Canute Chaos Crew
Canute’s high school team, The Chaos Crew, has solidified its status as one of the top Esports squads. Led by sophomore captain Luis Ruiz and supported by teammates sophomore Jarrod Ibrom, freshmen Bryce Jellison and Cason Rogers, and senior Bryler Lewis, the team powered through the season undefeated at 8-0. They secured their spot at the State Championship after defeating Canadian High School in the playoffs, earning the title of Southwest Regional Champions.
The Chaos Crew will represent Canute at the High School State Championship on December 16th, where they will face the winners of the NW, SE, and NE Regionals.
With teams excelling across multiple divisions, Canute is setting a high standard for scholastic Esports in Oklahoma.
