Western Plains Library System partners with Oklahoma DHS to provide needed resources

Western Plains Library System is excited to announce a new partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL) to empower communities through digital access and social support with WPLS Pathways.
This building located at 114 S. College collapsed under the force of severe winds. The bulding, owned by Zetta Penner, currently served as an apartment with a large garage. The apartment’s resident was home at the time of the collapse but was not injured. At one time the building housed the Amuse U movie theater.

Severe winds cause damage in Cordell

On Friday, March 14, 2025, Cordell experienced severe windstorms that caused significant damage throughout the town. Wind gusts exceeding 70 mph led to the collapse of a building on the town square, scattering debris around the Washita County Courthouse.

CORDELL EIGHTH GRADER JAXON JONES PLACES 7TH AT STATE POWERLIFTING MEET

Cordell eighth-grader Jaxon Jones secured a seventh-place finish at the State Powerlifting Meet in El Reno on Thursday, March 13. Competing in his first year of powerlifting, Jones exceeded expectations and set three personal records (PRs) along the way.
