It’s that time again! Town Wide Garage Sales all over town and the merchants are also having sales on Saturday June 10th. There is something for everyone. You just might have to find it! The First Baptist Church is having a Baking Mini-Camp for children grades 2 and up.

The annual Washita County cupcake wars was held on May 23rd at the Washita County fairgrounds in Cordell. There was lots of competition and over 25 contestants. There were 5 participants from the Burns Flat-Dill City Sr. 4-H Club.

A very special thank you to the Scouts and Cub Scouts and others for placing the American flags on the veterans’ graves at the Lawnview Cemetery for Memorial Day. The cemetery was beautiful. The Washita County 4-H clubs also helped with flags.

The Burns Flat-Dill City Sr. 4-H club had a meeting Thursday in Cordell. We ate pizza at Slice 183 and then decorated cupcakes in preparation for Cupcake Wars on Tuesday. Twelve members were present and picked out their cupcake designs. All of them looked great and the competition will be fierce.

Loved the rain! We needed it so bad. Memorial Day is coming on Monday, May 29th. Pray for your loved ones and also remember the ones that are not with us anymore. Be thankful that we live in such a wonderful nation and community where we are blessed and free.

All the excitement of the end of school and Mothers’ Day is over. Now we all can look forward to a wonderful summer. The First Baptist Church is offering Summer activities for the kids. There will be mini camps starting May 30th.

The Washita County Speech Contest was held last week, and 5 members of the BFDC Sr. 4-H club participated. Braxton Barnett placed first with his digital presentation on soybeans. Brance Barnett had a digital presentation on Water Conservation placing 1st and Champion.

A native Washita Co resident leaves the country for Tenn: Goodbye to all my class-mates, friends and relatives from Canute, Dill Ci,ty, Bums Flat and Cordell! Believe it or not, I’m related to some of the Kilhoffers, Chervenk:a’s, Lonebergers, Thionetts, and Criders!

Dear Editor; An article in the “Cordell Beacon” a couple weeks ago got my attention and made me consider what it would be like to have to serve as juror on the trial of a man accused of in alleged inappropriate contact with a four year old girl.
