Body

During Monday's school board meeting, the Cordell School Board members voted on issues such as cafeteria bids, multiple contracts, handbook approvals, and more.

Item Vote They said
Discussion/Possible action on a motion approving the renewal of the lease-purchase for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022 as required under the provisions of the Equipment Lease/Purchase Agreement dated May 18, 2015 between the District and MR, Inc. 3-0 “We need to really look at possibly just paying off that lease purchase and, we’ll save a little money in the long run. We have the money in the bank to do that through our building fund. We'd have to put about 80,000 with it, but it would save us some money in the long run.”
- Superintendent Brad Overton

Discussion/action to award cafeteria bids for the 2021-22 school year.

3-0 “We did a comparison just on the hamburger buns on how many hamburgers buns we use in a year and it's a thousand dollar difference. If we go with the higher bidder instead of Bimbo. I would rather go with the higher bidder, because they give us our stuff when we need it and there’s no issues.”
- Superintendent Brad Overton

Discussion/action to approve the Elementary Student Handbook.

3-0 “As times change, we have to kind of back off on the enforcement of [dyed hair] a little bit, and we've gotten to where they can have some streaks and some this and that.”
- Superintendent Brad Overton

Discussion/action on a service agreement with Quality Care Labs for student drug testing services and Department of Transportation testing.

3-0 “We had more kids test positive for marijuana this year than we probably ever had... This year with the medical marijuana cards, we've had probably three of our students that had their own medical marijuana card. If they've got their card and they test positive, we can't keep them from playing... But I questioned whether we're,spending money wisely on our drug drug program, it's $7,500 a year.”
- Superintendent Brad Overton
