It was a big week for Blue Devil football, as both Cordell’s high school and junior high squads made one thing perfectly clear: they were ready to play.
The Cordell High School Blue Devils picked up their first victory of the season Friday night, shutting out the Fox Foxes, 50-0, on home field. And they only needed a half to do it, bringing the game to an early end before the second half ever began.
From start to finish, the Blue Devils controlled the non-district matchup, keeping Fox off the scoreboard while piling up 50 points of their own. The victory moved Cordell to 1-1 and gave the Blue Devils plenty of momentum as they prepare for another home game this week. Individual statistics from Friday’s game were not available by press time.
And the varsity Blue Devils weren’t the only ones putting up big numbers while keeping their opponent at zero.
Cordell Junior High delivered a masterclass of its own against Burns Flat-Dill City on Monday, August 31, defeating the Eagles 42-0 in Cordell Junior High’s first game of the season.
With a new season underway, the hard work is beginning to show where it matters most: under the Friday night lights.
Cordell will look to keep that drive rolling Friday, September 11, when the Blue Devils welcome the Mountain View-Gotebo Tigers to Cordell.
