CORDELL BLUE DEVILS SHOW SPORTSMANSHIP AND CHARACTER DURING WEEK OF BASKETBALL

In an exhilarating week of high school basketball, the Cordell Blue Devils faced strong opponents, the Carnegie Wildcats on Tuesday and the Sayre Eagles on Friday. The matchups unfolded with a mix of triumphs, challenges, and unexpected highlights. The Lady Blue Devils set the tone with a resounding 59-46 victory over the Wildcats. Birdie Brown emerged as the star of the game, lighting up the scoreboard with an impressive 29 points while Peyton Garrison added 23 points to the tally. Rylee Chagollia, McKinsey Gray and Allee Brock all added 2 points each, and Calliy Walker contributed 1 point. However, all the girls worked together to secure the win. During halftime of the girls' game, the entertainment took a heartwarming turn as 4th-grade kids, under the coaching of Cody Gilmore, engaged in a spirited scrimmage, captivating the audience and fostering a sense of community.

DEVILS CLAIM A WIN BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK

High school basketball in Cordell hit an unexpected snag as the Cordell Blue Devils eagerly prepared for a showdown against Canute High School on Monday, December 11. However, the highly anticipated game was derailed by a shortage of referees, resulting in its rescheduling to a date beyond the Christmas break. This twist of fate, while disappointing, has added an air of anticipation and extra preparation time for the Blue Devils as they navigate the challenges of an unpredictable season.

Blue Devil wrestlers medal at Kingfisher meet

This past weekend, December 1-2, Cordell middle school and junior high wrestling teams traveled to Kingfisher, OK to compete in the Kingfisher Tournament. The wrestlers who attended were Tyson Dickerson, Dalton Sparks, Canyon Zarecki, Porter Jones, Joseph Ivy, Briggs Reeves, Dylan Edison, Bryson Earle, Axton Zarecki, Julian Venable, Lacy Meyer, Baylor Moore, and Keegan Brooks. Out of those 13 middle and junior high wrestlers, five received medals. Receiving medals are Baylor Moore 1st, Axton Zarecki 2nd, Briggs Reeves 2nd, Tyson Dickerson 2nd, and Keegan Brooks 4th.

Get together on Sunday, November 26, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and show your Blue Devil Spirit! Enjoy an afternoon in the Cordell High School Gymnasium at the Meet the Players event! Meet the 2023-2024 basketball players, coaches, mascots, and cheerleaders! Participate in all the fun that will take place, and prepare to laugh as entertaining games and player auctions take place! Games include Duck Toss - $1 per duck and Gotcha - $10 per person.

The junior high girls played exceptionally well in their second basketball game of the week versus Hobart. Lots of people showed up to support them, and they were met with the highest success. Everyone was anticipating and on the edge of their seats. There are tons more wins to go.

In the midst of a challenging and often frustrating football season, the Cordell High School team showcased a remarkable display of resilience and character. Despite a season filled with losses and setbacks, the team’s two senior stars, Alex Kennedy, number 55, and Richard Croslin, number 33, have led their teammates with unwavering courage and determination, culminating in a heartwarming display of strength during the last quarter of their final game.
