Cordell High School's soccer teams kicked off their season with a series of challenging matchups, facing off against formidable opponents in their first games of the year.

The action started on Friday as both the girls' and boys' teams traveled to Weatherford for their season openers. Originally scheduled to be hosted at Cordell, unforeseen circumstances led to the games being moved to Weatherford's home turf. The matchup against Weatherford was always going to be a tough challenge for Cordell, as they had been a strong rival to play against. As expected, both teams struggled against the experienced Weatherford squads. The girls' team fell 11-1, with Rylee Chagollia finding the net on a foul shot, before Annyrayia Harrison tapped it in. Meanwhile, the boys' team suffered a heavy defeat, losing 15-0.

On Monday, the teams faced off against Bridge Creek at the opposing team's home ground. The girls' team fought hard but ultimately fell short, losing 5-1. McKinsey Gray managed to break through the defense and score Cordell's lone goal of the match.

The following day saw the teams traveling once again, this time to Elk City for another set of matchups. The girls' team put up a strong effort but came up just short, losing 2-1. McKinsey Gray once again showcased her scoring prowess, netting Cordell's lone goal of the game. However, the girls team had a player issued a yellow card during the match. Meanwhile, the boys' team struggled to find their footing, suffering a 10-0 defeat against Elk City. Like their counterparts, they also had a player receive a yellow card.

Despite the tough start to the season, both the girls' and boys' teams are determined to learn from their experiences and improve as the season progresses. With dedication and hard work, they aim to turn their fortunes around and compete at a higher level in the games to come.
