The Lady Blue Devils were on the road last Tuesday, facing one of the top teams in the class. After an incredible battle, the #11 Lady Tigers of Hollis defended their home court and sent the Lady Devils home with a 50-42 loss.

Cordell’s girls fought the game all the way to the end, trailing by just two with three minutes left to play. Left in a position where they had to foul in order to keep the Lady Tigers from running out the clock, the Lady Devils were sunk in the end by effective free throw shooting from Hollis.

Head coach Jana Rogers labeled the game as the best offensive and defensive effort from her team all season. They overcame their traditional nemesis, a slow third quarter, and scored 19 in the period to push them into a close final period.

Bailey Troub and Renee Javorsky each scored 13 for the Lady Devils.

“This was the best game we played all year, both offensively and defensively as a group,” Rogers said. “We played #11 in our class and it was a two point game with three minutes to go. Usually, the third quarter is our rough quarter, but this game it was our best, as we scored 19 points. We ran lots of different defenses and the girls ran them all grea. We also had a season low in turnovers, which has been a big reason in not being able to win more games. So I feel like we are starting to click.”

The Lady Devils next take the court at Walters Friday at 6:30 p.m.
