In a night filled with excitement and spirited competition, the Tuesday basketball games at our high school showcased not only the athletic prowess of our teams but also celebrated the achievements of our students.

The festivities kicked off with the homecoming ceremony, where Carlie Banks and Scout Regier emerged as the winners. The atmosphere was charged with school spirit.

Despite the efforts of our girls, they faced a tough opponent in Navajo, ultimately losing 61-38. Birdie Brown led the scoring with 18 points, followed by Peyton Garrison with 13, McKinsey Gray with 6, and Pree Hull contributing 1 point.

During the girls' halftime, the court belonged to the 'Little Dribblers' showcasing their skills, accompanied by the delightful 'Lil Gal Cheer.' The crowd was treated to a display of youthful enthusiasm and talent.

In between the games, attention shifted to the academic realm as the state runner-up academic team, led by team captain Tatym King and coached by Mrs. Makuch, was recognized. Additionally, the top 10% of the sophomore class received well-deserved applause. Jacie McCown, Kyndal Norris, Emma Christian, Samuel Lindsey, Birdie Brown, and Turner Jones were acknowledged for their outstanding achievements.

The boys' game against Navajo was equally challenging, resulting in a 64-48 loss. Gage Miller emerged as a standout performer, scoring an impressive 28 points. Harlee Taylor added 7, Dason Ramsey contributed 6, Scout Regier had 4, and Jordan Wood rounded out the scoring with 3 points.

The boys' halftime brought another dose of charm with the 'Lil Gal Cheer,' adding a touch of cheerfulness to the intense basketball action.

Fast forward to Friday's matchups, where the girls faced a formidable Snyder High School, falling short with a score of 47-34. Peyton Garrison and Calliy Walker each scored 11 points, while Birdie Brown added 8, and Rylee Chagollia and McKinsey Gray chipped in with 2 points each.

On a brighter note, the boys secured a hard-fought victory against Snyder with a final score of 32-28. Gage Miller led the scoring with 11 points, supported by Dason Ramsey with 9, Scout Regier with 7, Eathan Fenning with 3, and Jordan Wood with 2.

However, the Friday games were not without a bit of drama, as a technical foul was called on Coach Dages. Despite the setback, the team's resilience and determination prevailed. Harlee Taylor and Gage Miller ended the game doing backflips while heading off the court.

As we reflect on the week's basketball events, it's clear that our athletes showcased skill, spirit, and sportsmanship, making us proud to be part of this vibrant high school community.
