On Monday, April 4th, the Cordell community was stunned to find widespread vandalism across the town. Residents and business owners alike awoke to discover a troubling scene—numerous public and private buildings had been defaced with spray paint. Some properties were also left with shattered windows, adding to the damage and distress.
Each target displayed distinct markings and symbols. The deliberate nature of the graffiti has left many shaken and confused, sparking conversations about motive and meaning.
“What kind of person does this?” one resident asked.
Local businesses have already begun assessing the cost of repainting walls, windows, and garage doors. Some property owners expressed frustration, while others voiced concern.
The Cordell Police Department is knee-deep in investigation efforts, actively sorting through reports and reviewing security footage to identify those responsible. Cordell Police Chief Dustin Denney has urged anyone with information or home or business surveillance footage from the evening of April 3rd to come forward.
This was an unnecessary and senseless crime. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Cordell Police Department.
