AFR- The Woolf Agency will hold an open house on Monday, March 24th at noon. Everyone is welcome to come visit, see the office, and enjoy a hamburger lunch provided by AgDefense Risk Management.
Agency owner Gail Tibbets, along with her husband Michael Tibbets, purchased Cordell’s branch of American Farmers & Ranchers Mutual Insurance Company (AFR) from Terry Sperle in December 2024. AFR is one of the oldest insurance companies in Oklahoma, with roots going back to 1905. Forbes just ranked AFR among the best insurance companies in America for the second year in a row. AFR offers many types of insurance including Homeowners, Auto, Farm & Ranch, Life, and more.
The Woolf Agency is located at 200 E. Main Street. It is adjacent to Woolf Creek Insurance, also owned by Gail Tibbets.
Tibbets says “Some people may not realize what complete services we offer. Woolf Creek truly is a one-stop shop with agents to help with all types of insurance. We help with obtaining affordable health insurance from the Health Insurance Marketplace; we offer commercial insurance, umbrella coverage, general liability, auto- any product you need.”

Woolf Creek is a name with personal history for Tibbets. Her grandparents, Oscar and Cledia Woolf, farmed in Washita County. An early portrait of them hangs prominently in the office.
The building that houses Tibbets’ businesses is a time capsule in itself. It was once home to First National Bank, where Tibbets worked when she was just 17 years old.
“I really do feel like I have come full circle. I never thought I would own the bank building where I worked as a young girl,” Tibbets said.
Many original details of the bank remain, such as the vault, which houses Tibbets’ personal office, and the huge round time-delay safe. The original mosaic floor tiles, beautiful woodwork, and decorative tin ceilings evoke the elegance of another era.
