The Cordell Blue Devil Cross Country team kicked off their season on Saturday, August 24th, with a strong performance at the Weatherford Sand Plum Invitational. Despite the sweltering heat, all 15 runners showed up ready to compete and gave it their all on the challenging course.
The standout performance of the day came from Calliy Walker, who secured an impressive third-place finish in the High School Girls' Division. Walker's determination and grit were evident as she pushed through the final stretch to clinch a podium spot, setting a high standard for the rest of the season.
Other notable performances came from McKenzie Rich, Brylie Reeves, and Rylee Larsen, who each inished in the top 30 and earned medals for their efforts. Their strong finishes demonstrated the depth of talent on the Cordell team and their potential to make a mark in the cross-country circuit this year.
