Blue Devil Basketball report

Last week the Lady Blue Devils and Blue Devils traveled to Carnegie on Tuesday and hosted Sayre on Friday.

The Lady Blue Devils came out battling but found themselves down 12-10 after one quarter of play.

After a back-and-forth 2nd quarter they found themselves down 21-16 at the half.

The girls came out on fire in the 3rd quarter and were able to grab a 29-28 lead after 3 quarters of play.

The back and forth continued down the stretch, which found the girls falling just short of grabbing their second win of the season losing 40-38.

Peyton Garrison led the Lady Blue Devils in scoring with 15 points, while Birdie Brown had 10, and Mckinsey Gray had 6 respectively.

The Blue Devils came out with great energy handling Carnegie’s pressure, and found themselves down 18-15 after the 1st quarter.

The back and forth battle continued in the second quarter, and the boys found themselves within striking distance at the half down 32-27.

Coming out of the half down 5 the boys looked to keep it close, but were unable to do so, the Wildcats came out on fire, and were able to stretch the lead to 57-37 after 3 quarters.

The 4th quarter was similar to the 3rd where the boys exerted a lot of energy but were not able to stop the Wildcats from knocking down shots ultimately falling to the Wildcats 82-49.

Danny Corbin led the scoring with 22 points, JD Maddox and Thomas Riemer had 8 apiece, Jordan Wood and Scout Regier both had 4 points.

On Friday the Lady Blue Devils got off to a slow start on the offensive end, but did a great job on the defensive end only being down 1 point after the first quarter.

In the second quarter the Lady Eagles settled in and were able to stretch the lead to 18-5 at halftime.

The 3rd quarter was eerily similar to the 2nd quarter for the Lady Blue Devils, and they found themselves down 33-10 after 3 quarters of play.

The Lady Blue Devils did not quit on themselves and were able to have their best quarter of the night in the 4th, but it was not enough to get past the Lady Eagles, as they fell short 44-19.

The Blue Devils got off to a slow start against the Eagles and found themselves down 19-8 after one quarter.

They traded body blows with the Eagles in the second quarter but were unable to gain any ground going into the locker room down 11.

Coming out of the half the Blue Devils were hoping to chip into the lead but were unable to do so finding themselves down 15 after 3 quarters.

The Blue Devils continued to fight, and outscored the Eagles in the 4th quarter, but they were unable to dig out of their hole falling to the Eagles 5845.

Coach Trent said “that the girls are playing good defense but are struggling to score the basketball. He is hoping the tough schedule pays off and has the girls ready come playoff time.”

Coach Blankenship says “the boys are executing the game plan, rebounding well, and limiting turnovers. He sees continued improvement in the boys and is hoping to be a tough team to eliminate from the playoffs.”
