The annual Cordell High School Pie Auction/Meet the Players event was held Thursday evening, kicking off the 2020 football season.
The Cordell Blue Devil Cheerleading team opened the fundraiser with a cheer performance, this was followed by the “Meet the Players” portion of the event. This time is used to give each player and cheerleader the opportunity to introduce themselves, their parents, and their position. After running through the introductory event, the microphone was turned over to Buddy Holman, the auctioneer, who took bids and encouraged the crowd to donate.
For each grade three pies were auctioned off, with the highest bidder getting to choose who gets “pied”. One final pie was auctioned off to be used on one of the coaches, this year Zane Trammel was chosen and pied by the senior boys.
The Cordell Blue Devil Football team raised $4,400, and the cheer team raised $2,240. The money from the fundraiser is used to cover travel expenses for the football boys, and the cheer girls.
The Cordell Fire Department grilled hotdogs for everyone who attended the fundraiser. The hotdogs were donated by Bar S, the buns were donated by United, and all beverages were donated by Wheeler Ford.
