Cordell Class of ‘61 holds reunion

The Cordell High School graduating class of 1961 held their 63rd class reunion on April 24, 2024, at the Airport Hampton Inn in Oklahoma City.

The attendees included Gib Akers (Sharon), Pat (Beck) White, Dr. Jimmy Burke, Eddie Freeze, Robert Hurley (Jan), Jimmy Johnson (Diane), Cheryl (Lindley) Lowry, Lyndell McCullough (Carolyn), Linda McDonald, Robetha (Myers) Farris, Connie (Parker) Sasseen (Son- Elvus), Rita Scott, Terry Simpson (Kay), Dr. Don Quine (Jane), Janis (Wedel) Coon, A.G. Wood, and Sue (Young) Turner. Visitors: George and Winnie Redwine.

The attendees primarily spent the day sharing the biographies of class members, looking at class pictures as well as pictures from the past sixty-three years, and pictures of the families of class members.

The deceased classmates were honored with a display of their individual pictures. The deceased classmates are Que Quita (Alexander) Reinke, Russell Ash, Keith Berry, Robert Bishop, Donald Brown, L.M. (Luther) Gammon, Patricia (Hamilton) Thibodeaux, Terry Hoefer, Kay (Holman) Allen, Dian (Johnson) Hintergardt, Junior (Sidney) Lundy, Carl Merrill, Tommy Moncher, Diane (Andrews) McLeod, Jeannie (Regier) Wood, Florence (Schmidt) Owens, Phil Schwarz, Gerald Scott, and Keith Stalcup. Subsequently, David Carley, who was unable to attend the reunion, passed away.

A spreadsheet with the current contact information was provided to each attendee, and that along with notebooks containing the classmate biographies, pictures, etc. are available for review at the Washita County Museum.
