Leadership, teamwork and plenty of adventure were on the agenda this summer as four members of the Cordell FFA Chapter traveled to Camp Tulakogee in Wagoner to attend the 54th Annual Oklahoma FFA Alumni Leadership Camp.
Representing Cordell were Brylie Reeves, Natalie Hewitt, Gabrielle Hamburger and Dalton Sparks, who joined more than 1,300 FFA members from over 300 chapters across the state during one of four three-and-a-half-day camp sessions held June 28 through July 11.
This year’s theme, “Uncharted: Go Beyond Your Limits,” encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones while strengthening their personal, team and service leadership skills through interactive activities, challenges and group experiences.
Campers also had the opportunity to hear from an impressive lineup of presenters, including kickoff speaker Bill Cordes of Kansas, hypnotist Dr. Al Snyder of Wyoming, and nationally recognized clean comedian and youth speaker Mike Paramore, who delivered the camp’s keynote address.
The annual leadership camp is sponsored by the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association with support from Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Cherokee Nation, Public Service Company of Oklahoma and P&K Equipment.
As part of the Agricultural Educa- tion Division within the Oklahoma CareerTech System, the Oklahoma FFA and Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association work together to promote agricultural education and prepare students to become the next generation of leaders. Through experiences like leadership camp, FFA members gain valuable skills that extend far beyond the classroom and into their schools, communities, and future careers.
