The festivities began at 2:00 on Saturday July 11th, 2026 at the Cowden Community Building with 30 attending the 40th Cowden School Reunion. Everyone brought side dishes and/or deserts, Double 6 from Weatherford provided the meat. Everyone enjoyed visiting and catching up. Verdeana Weidenmaier and Delma Lamb were the registrars.
Charles Sappington gave the blessing for the meal. Gracie Lack sang Flowers and Stillwaters. B.R. Stephens, Alumni President opened the business meeting and lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Annetta Newton read the names of the 14 Alumni who had passed away since the 2025 reunion.
The oldest graduate was Charles Sappington, graduating in the class of 1958; Jean Boyd had attended the most reunions; Gene Evans traveled the farthest; The Annetta Newton family had the most family attending and Daneille Schmidt was the youngest student. They were each presented a one-dollar gold coin in recognition.

Several door prizes were presented through a drawing.
B.R. thanked all who helped to make the reunion possible including Liberty Drug and The Farmer’s Bank in Carnegie; Flowers by Charlene and Shamrock Bank of Mountain View; The Bank of Western Oklahoma, High Plains Bank, Blue Sky Bank, Jack’s Flowers and Gifts and Tractor Supply all located in Cordell.
The meeting was open for any suggestions to improve our gathering for next year, no suggestions were made. The meeting was adjourned with prayer by B.R. Stephens.
