Washita County Commissioners’ Minutes

Now on the 15th day of June 2026, the County Commissioners in and for Washita County met in regular session with Chairman Chandler calling the meeting to order.

Chairman Chandler asked Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, for roll call. Roll call was answered by Gossen, present; Gray, present; Chandler, present.

Prayer was led by Chairman Chandler.

The Board reviewed the minutes of the June 8, 2026 regular meeting. Motion made by Gossen seconded by Gray to approve the minutes as presented. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Gray seconded by Gossen to approve the blanket purchase orders as filed in the County Clerk’s Office. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Gray seconded by Gossen to approve a lease agreement between Washita County and the Department of Corrections for the leasing of office space at the Washita County Justice Center in the amount of $196.88 for the probation and parole office. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

The Board opened Bid No. 2026-02 for 6-month bids for road and bridge materials. Motion made by Gossen seconded by Gray to table awarding the bids until the next meeting for further review. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

The Board opened Bid No. 2026-03 for drug screening devices for the Washita/Custer County Treatment Court. Bids were received from the following: Premier BioTech (formerly National Test Systems). Motion made by Gossen seconded by Gray to award the bid to Premier BioTech, the only bid received. Gossen, yes; Gray, yes; Chandler, yes.

The Board discussed the ambulance service being provided by Sinor Ambulance to the EMS District previously served by Burns Flat Ambulance. Joel Newberry, Town of Burns Flat, stated he would be meeting with

Washita County

Sinor Ambulance on Tuesday and would be discussing run reports and the cost of service if Sinor continued to service the area. The possibility of proposing a 522 ambulance service district either county wide or by school district was also discussed. In order for that proposal to be on the ballot for the November 3, 2026 general election a resolution calling for the election would have to be provided to the Election Board by August 19, 2026. Representatives from the Cloud Chief Fire Department, Cordell Fire Department, City of Cordell, Town of Burns Flat, and Survival Flight were present for this discussion. Further information will be researched and this will be discussed again at a later date. No action was taken.
