Ambrose Anthony Green was born January 7th, 1937 on the family farm north of Canute, Oklahoma to Marie (Grossman) and Pete George Green. He passed away Thursday, June 4th, 2026 at his home at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 28 days.
Ambrose, known to most as A.A., grew up north of Canute on his family’s farm. He attended Canute Schools graduating with the class of 1954. After graduation, he moved to be with his parents in Paoli, Oklahoma where he worked along side his parents and brothers on their farm. He also found employment in the oil and natural gas industry with Shebester Oil Company. While he was in that area, he met a young woman by the name of Melba Kelley. They were later married on June 1st, 1958 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
After their marriage they made their home west of Canute, Oklahoma where they raised their family and farmed while running cattle.
A.A. was passionate about the agriculture industry and served 28 years on the Elk City Farmers Gin board.
He also enjoyed fishing, hunting arrowheads and artifacts, and being a member of the member of the Oklahoma Anthropology Society.
He is preceded in death by parents; 3 brothers, Leo, Cornelius, and Charles Green.
A.A. is survived by his wife of 68 years, Melba, of the home; 3 children, Anthony Green, Elk City, OK, Paul Green and wife Renee, Elk City, OK, and Susan Tyra and husband, David, Oklahoma City, OK; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 1 sister, Mary Temple and husband, Raymond, Elmore City, OK; 2 sisters-in-law, Donna Green, Paoli, OK and Janet Green, Maysville, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.
