Nov. 1, 1939– May 28, 2026
Jolene Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at the age of 86.
Jolene was born on November 1, 1939, in Washita County, Oklahoma. She spent her early years in Bessie and attended school in Cordell, graduating from Cordell High School. After marrying the love of her life, Lowell Brown, she moved to Clinton where they began their family together. In the late 1970s, Jolene and family returned to Cordell, a place she always considered home.
Jolene shared 38 wonderful years of marriage with her first and only love, Lowell, until his passing in 1994. Together they built a life centered on faith, family and creating memories together.
Her greatest joy and passion in life was being a mother to her three children: David, Joel, and Ginny. She was also a proud grandmother to Justin, Amanda, Adam, Joey, and Chloe, and treasured her role as great-grandmother to Aley, Avery, Frank, and Nic.
Jolene devoted much of her life to serving others. She worked as a dietician at Cordell Memorial Hospital for nearly two decades and spent many years working at Evette’s Drug Store, where she became a familiar and friendly face to many in the community.
She loved traveling with Lowell on his business trips and was fortunate to see much of the United States. Still, Jolene often said that western Oklahoma was the prettiest place she had ever seen.
Jolene enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who loved word searches, crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, and the piano. She was an excellent cook, talented seamstress, and devoted gardener. She especially loved cooking for others, entertaining everyone’s children, being outdoors, and enjoying the fellowship of church. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 23.
Jolene will be remembered for her vivacious spirit, passionate heart, unwavering love for her family, and deep faith in God. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Finis Simmons, husband, Lowell Brown, her brother, Lee Simmons and daughter in law Tisha Brown.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends.
