Cordell Alum Rick Scott being inducted into Hall of Fame

1976 Cordell Graduate Rick Scott will be inducted into the Oklahoma Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Friday, June 5th at 6:30 p.m. The ceremony will take place at Oklahoma Christian University. Friends, family, and former players are invited to attend.

With a career span of over 36 years, Coach Scott’s impact on the game is nearly unmatched. His resume speaks for itself: 594 career wins, 13 District championships, 10 Regional appearances, and 9 trips to the State tournament, including three State championship appearances.

Coach Scott is a three-time All State Coach and District Coach of the Year. He was also named Regional Coach of the Year for a total of ten years. He led the Geary team to their first District Championship.

Beyond the scoreboard, Coach Scott has been a mentor to dozens of elite athletes, including 36 All-State players, a High School All-American, and countless players who transitioned his lessons into successful college careers.

In fact, Coach Scott states that his athletes have been the most important part of his career. “I have been blessed with many awards, but most importantly, I found it an honor to coach and teach outstanding student athletes and watch them go onto great success. That is the best part about this whole journey!”

A spokesperson for the OHSFSCA said “Despite the accolades, Coach Scott remains humble. He insists that his greatest honor hasn’t been the trophies, but the privilege of coaching and being around the incredible students who have crossed his path over the last three decades. He extends his deepest gratitude to his players, fellow coaches, parents, his family, and, above all, God, for this recognition. Congratulations, Coach Scott, on this well-deserved milestone and a lifetime of excellence!”
