The Infant Crisis Services Baby-Mobile, a mobile formula and diaper pantry, visited Cordell on May 22nd, expanding the program’s reach to 33 counties in Oklahoma. Eleven clients received help during this visit.
The inaugural trip on May 22 was the first by the newest vehicle in the fleet, which was purchased through a Food Insecurity Grant from Oklahoma Human Services.
This is an exciting moment at Infant Crisis Services (ICS) as it has been expecting the new vehicle since July 2024. The new BabyMobile, nicknamed Storm, arrived April 15 at 12:28 p.m. weighing around 14,000 pounds. ICS is thrilled to be able to announce both the new vehicle’s arrival and the expansion of its service area.
“The BabyMobiles allow us to get to babies in crisis who cannot come to our main facility,” said Miki Farris, co-founder and executive director of ICS. “Our having the means to visit more locations is a testament to the generosity of those who support our mission.”
Children younger than four are eligible to receive a week’s worth of diapers, wipes, formula or food at no cost. The BabyMobile will serve clients first come, first served on a drive-thru basis. The adult present should be the parent or legal guardian however they do not have to bring the baby. Infant Crisis Services provides this assistance a maximum of four times per calendar year for each child. Visits must be at least a week apart. Visits to the organization’s office in Oklahoma City and to the BabyMobile count toward the four visits. The BabyMobile schedule may change due to adverse weather conditions. For the current schedule and updates, families can call 405-528-3663. Infant Crisis Services developed the unique BabyMobile service to break down the transportation barrier that prevents many families from receiving assistance. ICS looks forward to bringing these life-sustaining essentials to babies and toddlers in Cordell.
