Commissioners Minutes

Now on the 28th day of October 2024, the County Commissioners in and for Washita County met in regular session with Chairman Goeringer calling the meeting to order.

Chairman Goeringer asked Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, for roll call. Roll call was answered by Gossen, present; Goeringer, present; Chandler, present.

The Board reviewed the minutes of the previous regular meeting. Motion made by Gossen seconded by Chandler to approve the minutes as presented. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Gossen seconded by Chandler to approve the blanket purchase orders as filed in the County Clerk’s Office. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Gossen seconded by Chandler to sign the Detention Transportation Claim for the month of September for reimbursement to the Washita County Justice Center. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Chandler seconded by Gossen to approve the application for eligibility for the Federal Surplus Property Program for District 2 and District 3. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Chandler seconded by Gossen to sign the revised administrative settlement for parcel no. 4, 4.1, and 4.2 of the Bessie Road project administered by CED. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Gossen seconded by Goeringer to elect Greg Chandler to serve as a trustee on the South Western Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA) board for the term ending on December 31, 2026. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Chandler seconded by Gossen to table the sales agreement between Warren Cat and Washita County for the purchase of a Motor Grader for District 3. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Motion made by Chandler seconded by Gossen to table the purchase contract between the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and Washita County for the purchase of a Motor Grader for District 3. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.

Kristen Dowell, County Clerk, informed the Board that effective November 1, 2024, the sheriff deputies and jailers would be required to participate in the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) Hazard Duty plan, increasing their contributions by 4.5% for a total of 8%. No action was taken. Motion made by Chandler seconded by Gossen to award safety awards in the maximum amount of $200 for those employees who meet the eligibility criteria. Amounts of employees who have worked a partial year will be prorated by the number of quarters worked. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes. Motion made by Gossen seconded by Chandler to hold a county luncheon on November 27, 2024 to recognize employees and present safety awards. Gossen, yes; Goeringer, yes; Chandler, yes.
