2024 Cordell Grad Scout Regier is Academic All-Stater

The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has bestowed one of its highest honors, the Academic All-State Award, upon Cordell’s Scout Regier.

Regier is only the third Academic All-Stater to come from Cordell Schools, with the other two being in 1993 and 1994. Each year, 100 students are selected for this award from the hundreds across the state who apply.

OFE President Andrew J. Morris described the selection of the scholars as the most rigorous academic awards selection process in the state.

To be eligible to apply, students must meet one of three criteria: an ACT composite score of at least 30; a combined SAT evidence-based reading & writing and math score of at least 1370; or be selected as a National Merit Semifinalist.

Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement, leadership and community service, as well as letters of recommendation and an essay submitted by each applicant.

The 2024 All-Staters scored an average of 33 on the ACT, with seven scoring a perfect score of 36. The students’ average grade point average is 4.25, and 41 are National Merit Semifinalists.

Scout Regier is the son of Jud and Cara Regier and is a 2024 graduate of Cordell schools. He is Valedictorian and President of his class, an Oklahoma State Regents Academic Scholar and a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society. He is a member of the basketball and golf teams as well as Student Council.

Regier plans to attend Oklahoma State University and pursue a degree in Aerospace Administration, with a goal of becoming a commercial pilot.

State Superintendent of Schools Ryan Walters said “These 100 remarkable students are setting the standard for academic excellence in Oklahoma public schools. This outstanding accomplishment is just the beginning of what I feel certain will be a lifetime of success, continued learning, and service in their communities and beyond.”

Walters continued “I congratulate these excellent young Oklahomans, their teachers, and their families for their studiousness, their grit, and their service. Their example is one to be emulated by every student in our state.”

Honorees are asked to select a teacher that has influenced, encouraged and guided them to attend the OFE Academic Awards Celebration, and Regier selected Mrs. Holly Campbell to be his guest educator.

Regier’s Academic All-State Sponsor is Cordell Memorial Hospital.
