An EF1 tornado hit Cordell about 5:30 Tuesday afternoon. The heaviest damage is centered on the southeast part of Cordell. As of 7:30 p.m. damages are still being assessed but so far it is known that Gatlin's Garage and King-Lindsey suffered heavy destruction. Cordell Public Schools have announced that there will be no classes on Wednesday due to damages to the school. No serious injuries have been reported so far, but search operations are ongoing. Cordell Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol are asking that people stay away from affected areas to give them space to work. They are being assisted by other departments including Weatherford and Clinton.
