If you haven’t checked out the new water feature in the pocket park or the revamped flower beds around the town square, I strongly encourage you to take a trip downtown. Explore our newly transformed streetscape, lovingly referred to as our community’s living room. The recently replaced bump-out plantings now boast new plant life, including small crepe myrtles and drought-tolerant species. Horsecreek Landscaping, in collaboration with the City of Cordell Electric, Water & Street Departments, along with County equipment and labor, has diligently worked to turn the vision of the past into the reality of the present and future.
Now it’s time to turn our community’s attention to the broken and cracked sidewalk squares that mar our once-stunning streetscape and sidewalks.
Our award-winning Cordell Main Street program was the catalyst for the public/private partnership formed in the late 1990s. We’re inviting the public to contribute to the ongoing improvements and design of our downtown streetscape. Emotional and financial investment from community members instills greater pride in what has been accomplished. “That’s my brick” is a tangible way to claim a piece of our downtown sidewalk.
We’re offering brick investors the chance to have their names literally etched in stone, with three personalized paver packages to choose from.
Currently, seventy-six pavers need to be “adopted” due to breakage and cracked cement around the courthouse and downtown square. Perhaps some downtown business owners considered these pavers an eyesore in front of their entrances but fear not – these pavers are set to be replaced!
Personalizing these paving stones provides a unique opportunity to be part of the revitalization of our community’s iconic square and plays a vital role in the city’s picturesque improvements.
Empowering our community members to purchase and adopt personalized paving stones allows everyone to be memorialized and leave a lasting mark in the City of Cordell’s history. Personalized brick fundraisers add a fun touch to raising funds for necessary improvements and creating the desired community atmosphere. Options are available for both business owners and individual community members: $100-$250 Package: One line (up to 18 characters) on a “shared paver,” shared with other investments of the same size. Engraving can feature the purchaser’s name, a family’s name, an organization, or a business.
Suitable as a gift or memorial.
$300-$500 Package: An entire dedicated personalized paver (3 lines, 18 characters per line) at a mutually chosen location around the town square.
Engraving can feature the name of the person, family, organization, or business.
Suitable as a gift or memorial.
$1000 and UP Package: An entire dedicated personalized paver (up to 5 lines, 18 characters per line) Maximum choices, including selecting the location for the personalized paver (first come first serve).
Engraving can feature the name of the person, family, organization, or business or a logo.
Suitable as a gift, memorial, or advertisement.
We seek your assistance in continuing the momentum in raising approximately $75,000 from individual and corporate partners. The city has contributed $25,000 to the project, complemented by a $25,000 MODA Grant approved in August. As of now, we’ve raised $54,450 from fellow investors who share our vision for the future.
Don’t miss this opportunity. Call the City Office and ask for Cassie Sims to donate or request a form to “adopt” a paver. Ensure your Personalized Paver reflects your request, and let’s make our city the gem it has the potential to be.
