Cordell man arrested after investigation leads to burglary charges

Cody Austin Moss of Cordell has been charged in Washita County District Court with ten counts of Third Degree Burglary after a series of thefts involving items taken from unlocked vehicles in Cordell.

In the early morning hours of October 11th, Moss allegedly entered unlocked vehicles on Florence Drive, Market Street, East 1st Street, Symcox, and Fleming in Cordell. Items stolen included coins, sunglasses, cologne, and keys.

Cordell Police Chief Denney and Officer Armfield viewed security camera footage obtained from homes of victims and compared them with known images of Moss captured at Right Here C Store the same morning and observed that the clothing worn was the same in in each set.

Moss was brought in for questioning and eventually admitted to the thefts. He then took officers to his home and produced items that had been stolen. He also admitted to stealing a mountain bike.

Investigative reports were submitted to the District Attorney’s office, and on October 26th Moss was taken into custody and is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.

Each count could carry penalties of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
