For over four decades, Washita County residents have come together to enjoy the annual 4-H Bean Supper and Carnival. This year’s event is set to take place on Monday, October 23rd at the Washita County Activity Center in Cordell.
“This is truly a tradition in Washita County that brings all of our communities together,” said Kristy Spalding, Washita County OSU Extension FCS/4-H Youth Development Educator.
The meal will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will include baked potatoes, brown beans, coleslaw, cornbread, and cake. Tickets are available for purchase from your local 4-H club members or at the door. Bean Supper tickets are $5, preschool and under eat free. The carnival will have unlimited games for $5. Or, individual game tickets can be purchased for 50 cents each or three tickets for $1. Participants at the carnival will receive prize tickets after playing the games that may be used at a store operated by 4-H’ers to redeem tickets for small toys.
This is the largest fundraiser event of the year for the program. Fifty percent of the ticket sales go to the local club and fifty percent goes to the county program to help fund county events and activities.
The Washita County 4-H Donation Drive started in October as well. Donations are welcome at the Washita County Extension Office, 125 W Main in Cordell.
Recognition is given to all donors throughout the year by Washita County 4-H. In addition, the “Gold Clover” Donors will have their name listed on the 2023-2024 Washita County 4-H t-shirt and will also receive one to wear.
