As the local kiddos anxiously await the opening of the public pool and seek activities to participate in during the summer break, the Western Plains Library System (WPLS) has just the thing to appease their minds and keep them engaged. WPLS Summer Reading Program is just a few days away. Friendship Through the Decades begins Tuesday, May 30th through Friday, July 14th. All performances for the WPLS Summer Reading Program are free, fun for all and will begin at 10 am.
Kicking off the summer reading program is Spaghetti Eddie on May 30th at Sentinel Public Library (SPL) and May 31st at Cordell Public Library (CPL). Spaghetti Eddie is a children’s musician set to serve up a hearty helping of fun, silly and engaging songs.
June 6 at SPL and June 7th at CPL Dino O’Dell will showcase his knowledge about the world. Whether the goal is early childhood literacy, science education, or simply fun entertainment, Dino’s library shows are interactive and educational.
Moving into mid June on the 13th at SPL and 14th at CPL, Barrett Huddleston delivers education and laughs with Finer Arts. The show features wild and wonderful stories of unity and kindness from all over the world. Their program uses interactive drama, puppets, clowning and storytelling.
Brace yourself and prepare to be wowed with a puppet show like no other you’ve ever seen before. Rocky Mountain Puppets perform an educational and entertaining performance enjoyable by all on June 20th at SPL and June 21st at CPL.
Looking for fun, laughs, and science?! Be a part of Team Science with Mad Science. Labeled as a favorite among parents and educators, Mad Science special program is set for June 27th at SPL and June 28th at CPL.
There will be no performers for the first week in July. However, the WPLS fan-favorite show, Extreme Animals, will take on the libraries July 11th at SPL and July 12th at CPL. Enjoy the adventure of a lifetime with leaping lemurs, kissing kangaroos, snugly sloths, cunning caracals, slippery snakes and so much more!
