A 70-year-old Dill City man is facing at least 25 years in prison if convicted of charges relating to an incident that allegedly happened at his home in November 2022.
Charles Michael Carpenter has been charged with one felony count of Lewd or Indecent Acts to a Child Under 16.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in Washita County, Sheriff Roger Reeve requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s assistance investigating allegations of the sexual abuse of a four-year-old female after her family reported that she told them details that led them to believe Carpenter had sexually abused her.
The OSBI conducted a forensic interview with the alleged victim where they determined that probable cause existed to believe that the crime had been committed by Carpenter.
OSBI investigators interviewed Carpenter on two occasions, and he changed his account of the accusations several times.
Carpenter was arrested on April 14th and his bond was set at $100,000. He posted bond and was released the same day.
The Court ordered that he appear on April 17th with an attorney. Carpenter appeared and requested additional time to hire counsel, and a new court date was set for May 15, 2023.
