Complete Candidate list for April Municipal Election released

Washita County Election Board Secretary Jennifer Barnette has released the official candidate filing list for the upcoming April Municipal Election.

Two candidates, Phil Kliewer and Earlene Smith, will face off for the seat of City of Cordell Mayor.

Candidates vying for the Ward 1 Cordell City Council position currently held by appointed Councilmember Jamie Bardwell, who did not file for election, are J.D. Banks, Greg Cox, and Amy Riggs.

Councilmember Steve McLaughlin did not file for re-election as the representative for Cordell’s Ward 2. Carl Ramsey and Blake Reed are running for his vacated seat.

Cordell Ward 3 Councilmember Lowell ‘Buddy’ Holman filed to keep his seat, and is being opposed by Darryl Anthony.

Appointed Cordell Councilmember James Newman Jr. and Cheri Nabors will seek to fill the unexpired term for Ward 3.

Bruce Wesner will be the new Cordell council representative for Ward 4, and Karla Ferrero will fill the position of City Clerk as they both filed unopposed.

Town of Burns Flat had three candidates file unopposed for the Board of Trustees: Barry Hill, Terry Field and Tony Dorman.

Town of Canute will select three Board of Trustee members from the following four candidates: Jerry L. Bohanon, Jared Atha, Jan Kamphaus, and Chuck Maddox.

Town of Corn had four candidates file unopposed for the Board of Trustees: Barbara Nurnberg, Mathew Thiessen, Eric Vandever, and Martin Knop.

Town of Dill City will select three from a pool of four candidates for full-term Board of Trustee seats: Janet Sproull, Bridgette Shelton, David Harbuck, and Jessyka Elswick are candidates. Stoney Hartronft and Ronald Roskam filed unopposed for the two unexpired-term Town of Dill City Board of Trustee seats.
