On 12-17-2022 Cordell Police Officers were called to the Cordell Memorial Hospital to test a substance found after a patient become unresponsive. The substance tested positive for fentanyl and methamphetamine. During the testing one of the officers started showing signs of fentanyl exposure. The other officer on scene was able to administer Narcan that all officers are issued. The hospital was also able to start an IV of Narcan on the officer. After a few hours the officer was released from the Hospital. We are very thankful for the quick reactions by the officers and staff. Officer’s from Cordell and other Local Agencies had just went through Training on the Recognition, Response, and Administration of Narcan: Opioid Overdose.
On 1-12-2023 while on a traffic stop, A Cordell Police Officer observed what appeared to be narcotic paraphernalia in the driver’s possession. During the stop the officer learned that the driver identified as Donna Butterick had a suspended drivers license and two warrants for her arrest out of Custer County.
Donna Butterick was arrest for the two outstanding warrants, Driving under supension, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of CDS, distributes or transports CDS within 2000’ of a educational institution, park, or public housing, Trafficking in Methamphetamine 20 grams or more.
During booking process at the Washita County Detention Facility contraband was located on Donna’s person and she was also charged with bringing contraband into a jail institution.
On 1-14-2023 Cordell Police department, with assistance from Washita County Sheriff’s Office and Custer County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Search Warrant at the address of 408 Magnolia. Arrested at the residence were David Brown, Mckenzie Flynn, Robin Rodriquez, and Dakota Royse on narcotic related offenses.
