Harper Veterinary Services settles into new, larger facility

Dr. Kyle Harper and Dr. Devyn Weichel, along with their veterinary staff members, are loving their new location in a prime spot in Cordell.

Harper Veterinary Services recently opened the doors to their new location at 1209 N Glenn L English St., which had previously housed the office of the late Dr. Tsai, giving the building life once again.

“There are two exam rooms and the third room we were able to turn that into a kennel room. We are able to do larger animals in here as far as bigger dogs, the occasional sheep and small calf. Most cattle will go out to the location east of town, but Dr. Weichel will do some large animal work,” said Receptionist Maggie Johnson.

The transition did require some remodeling, and some personal touches such as customized wallpaper that sketches out beloved animials. Dr. Weichel and staff expressed how thrilled they are with the amount of space they have.

“It’s been really fantastic. It’s different because we’re more spread out, which is what we needed. It has definitely been better for us and for the animals. There’s less stress on the animals,” stated Veterinarian Assistant Raylee Bookout.

In addition to the large-animal treatment facility east of Cordell, the new clinic features two exam rooms, a surgery prep room, separate surgery room, in-house blood machine for quicker blood work, kennel room, receptionist and waiting area, break room, as well as plenty of parking outside.

“This location has allowed us to see more patients for sure. Since we do have two exam rooms we can see a little bit more and not have the dogs overlapping as much. This helps us to keep things spread out a bit more,” commented Veterinarian Dr. Devyn Weichel.

“I don’t have any cons whatsoever! We have more parking, it’s easier to access for everybody with being on this road as opposed to being hidden off the square. This space allows us to better serve our clients,” Dr. Weichel continued.

Although Harper Vet moved the week before Thanksgiving, they will be hosting an Open House on Friday, January 20, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. for the community to come by and see the new facility.
