Mother-Daughter duo brings unique shopping experience to Cordell square

Looking for ways to shop environmentally sustainable fashion while also making a statement? Look no further than Springrosies Closet located at 103 N Market St. in Cordell, opening Thursday, September 29 from 10 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Prepare to enjoy a chic vintage shopping environment full of unique and select pieces. The upscale buy, sell and trade boutique will feature tanning and new, pre-loved, and vintage clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women; along with a few items for children and possibly home décor at a later date. Springrosies Closet is a masterpiece in the making by Rosie Southerland with the help of her daughter, Hannah Southerland. Rosie is always on the prowl for vintage, designer, and trendy name brand pieces that will last a lifetime with the upmost quality.

“There is so much importance the young generation of today is placing on sustainable fashion. They are one of the most earth conservation conscious generations we have ever seen. They realize that fast fashion dries up water sources, pollutes rivers and streams, while 85% of all textiles go to dumps each year. Buying sustainable and pre-loved clothing helps our environment, not just our pocketbooks,” stated Rosie.

Her love for fashion and unique clothing has been passed down through the women in her family for generations. Rosie has been reselling for nearly 20 years from what started as a means to help the children within her youth group.

“When I was a Youth Pastor in Ardmore, we had a lot of kids in the youth group; averaging between 30 and 40 kids. I always wanted to introduce them to Christian concerts, conferences, camps and just take them out of their little world so that they could see that there is so much more out there. All of that takes money and not all of them could afford it and our church couldn’t sponsor each and every kid. That is when we decided to open pop-ups at fairs and festivals to sell clothing and items in order to take care of the cost for these experiences for our youth kids.”

Similar to Plato’s Closet, Daisy Exchange and Clothes Mentor, Springrosies Closet will accept name brand, designer and vintage clothing offering either cash or store credit for selected articles, shoes and accessories.

“I like that we’re convenient, I feel that is very important nowadays, and we are a part of a community that really supports one another. People can come into this really chill environment and browse for however long they want to without the rush or judgment,” expressed Hannah.

Springrosies goal is to provide affordable unique, edgy, out-of-the-box style with sustainability in mind. Doors will be open the day of the Pumpkin Festival for all your shopping needs.
