Burns Flat couple could face life in prison after abuse charges

According to a report filed in Washita County District Court on September 1, 2022, two Washita County residents, Brandon and Chelsea Aaron of Burns Flat, are facing multiple charges resulting from an investigation concerning illegal treatment of their children.

Brandon Aaron is charged with four misdemeanor counts of tattooing of a child under 18 and one count of felony child abuse.

Chelsea Aaron is charged with two misdemeanor counts of tattooing of a child under 18 and one felony count of enabling child abuse.

On August 5, 2022, Bums flat Police Chief Keith Smith and DHS Worker Lacy Willoughby conducted a joint response at 413 Sioux Trail in Burns flat OK. The DHS referral was in reference to a mother and father at the residence tattooing their children which were under the age of 18 years, and possible inappropriate relations between father and stepdaughter. Upon arrival at the residence mentioned above, contact was made with Brandon and Chelsea Aaron. During the inititial investigation with DHS and Bums flat Police

ABUSE, Page 7 Department, it was determined that the case would be turned over to Washita County Sheriff’s Department. Chief Keith Smith stated that evidence was clear that three of the children had been given tattoos on their arms. Brandon Aaron told investigators that “he got tattoos at that age and didn’t think it was wrong”. Chief Smith said the conditions of the house were deplorable and had a strong odor from so many pets in the house. During interviews the children, ranging in ages from four to fourteen, reported various types of abuse that had been occurring over the course of several years. The six children in the home were removed as a safety plan that evening and placed with relatives.

As of press time, the Aaron’s were being held in the Washita County Jail with a bond of $250,00 each.
