4-H HALL OF FAME WINNER

The Washita County 4-H Awards Program was held on August 15, 2022. 4-H Members and Volunteers were recognized for their hard work and support for the 2021-2022 program year.

The following Teen Leaders facilitated the program: Brance Barnett, Kathryn Sirmon, Evie Denny, Jacob Baker, Joey Mooney and last year’s Outstanding Jr. 4-Her Bentlee Lester.

The following 4-H Volunteers were recognized: Erin Schneberger, BF/DC Junior 4-H Club; Larissa Mason and Lowayne Piercey, BF/DC Senior Club; Shivaun Peck, Canute Club; Brianna Sands, Cordell Cloverbud Club; Jeff Ray, Cordell Junior Club and Shooting Sports; Jerry Burris, Shooting Sports; Anjulia Lund and Jessica Huntzinger, Rocky Club; Susan Baker, Sentinel Club and Keith Schneberger, Meats Judging Project Club. Additional certified 4-H Volunteers include: Lori Barnett, Mary Peck, Tyler Peck, Nocona Cook and Jordan Cook.

Many 4-Hers were recognized for winning county 4-H contests. The Share-the-Fun Outstanding Small Group was Kathryn Sirmon & Abigail Sirmon and the Outstanding Individual was Madilynn Davidson. The Photography Champions were Level I, Noah Burris and Level II, Kathryn Sirmon. The Poster Contest Champion winners were Beginner Division, Bentlee Lester and Intermediate Division Kathyrn Sirmon. The Dress Revue Champions were Level I Division, Katherine Wright; Level 2 Division, Bryce Jellison; Level 3 Division, Maggie Towery and Level 4 Division, Brance Barnett. The Impressive Dress Champions were Junior Division, Bentlee Lester and Senior Division, Alexander Misener. Speech Champions in the Junior Division were Regular Speech, Jase Harrel; Demonstration, Kathrine Wright; Illustrated Speech, Maddux Funkhouser; PowerPoint, Braxton Barnett and Famous Person, Bentlee Lester. Intermediate Division Champions were Regular Speech, Zada Baker; Illustration/Demonstration, Alexander Misener; PowerPoint, Brance Barnett and Illustration/ Demonstration, Kathryn Sirmon. Cupcake Wars Overall Champion was Sara Misener. Bentlee Lester won the 4-H T-shirt Design contest and Brance Barnett won the most Fair Entries Award.

Not long after the county 4-H Speech Contest, 6 Sentinel Jr. 4-Hers and 1 Sentinel Intermediate 4-Her recorded their speeches and illustrated presentations for a statewide contest called “Be the Best in Oklahoma 4-H Pre-recorded Video Public Speaking Contest”. This contest had 32 counties submitting 190 videos. Winners included: Junior 4-H Division for the Communication & Expressive Arts Illustrated Presentation 1st place Madilynn Davidson and 4th place Bentlee Lester. Animal Science Illustrated Presentation 2nd place Grace Rose and 4th place Maddux Funkhouser. Small Animal Illustrated 2nd place Brayden Evetts. Plant & Natural Sciences

The Outstanding Cloverbud Award participants were Kendallyn Gossen, Abel Ledesma, Avery Ledesma, Shaelynn Peck, Waverly Schneberger, Whitten Schneberger and Richard Wright.

Junior Division Project medal Awards were presented to the following: Braxton Barnett, Photography; Francesca Bloomer, Food Science; Kali Bloomer, Food Science; Denton Cook, Community Service; Madilynn Davidson, Performing Arts; Maddux Funkhouser, Public Speaking; Bailey Gossen, Poultry; Korben Gossen, Technology & Engineering; Bentlee Lester, Public Speaking; Ruth Moser, Clothing & Textiles; Hadley Russ, Community Service; Abigail Sirmon, Community Service; HB Wright, Sheep and Katherine Wright, Sheep.

Senior Division Project Medal Awards were presented to the following: Jacob Baker, Community Service; Zada Baker, Leadership; Brance Barnett, Leadership and Kathryn Sirmon, Dogs.

Top 3 Outstanding Junior 4-Her recipients were Ruth Moser, Cordell Jr. 4-H; Maddux Funkhouser, Sentinel Jr. 4-H and Braxton Barnett, BF/DC Jr. 4-H. The Outstanding Junior 4-H Award went to Braxton Barnett.

The Top Outstanding Senior 4-H recipients were Zada Baker and Kathryn Sirmon. The Outstanding Senior 4-Her was Kathryn Sirmon.

The Washita County Hall of Fame Award is the highest honor in Washita County 4-H. This years’ recipient was Jacob Baker from Sentinel.

The 2022-2023 Washita County 4-H Teen Leaders Officer team include President, Brance Barnett; Vice-President, Kathryn Sirmon; Secretary, Zada Baker and Reporter, Jacob Baker.
