Runoff primary election is Tuesday

Washita County voters who choose to cast in-person votes will head to their polling locations for the runoff primary election on August 23rd after numerous candidates failed to secure a majority vote to win outright in the June primary election.

Democratic voters will choose between candidates Jason Bollinger and Madison Horn for United States Senator, while Republican voters will have several decisions to make including the runoff between Clark Jolley and Washita County resident Todd Russ for State Treasurer. Russ narrowly missed receiving the majority in the primary election.

Voters can check registration status and voting locations as well as sample ballots at at https://okvoterportal.okelections.us/. Sample ballots also appear on page two in this week’s Beacon.

Early voting is available Thursday, August 18th 2022 and Friday, August 19th 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 20th 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the County Election Board located at 111 E Main Street, Cordell OK. Early voting is not available at polling locations.

Washita County Election Board Secretary Ashton Hymer said early voting is open to all voters. “You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early. Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted by the County Election Board or State Election Board—from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections.”
