The Canute Preservation Club of Route 66 (CPR66) is hosting a full day of various events and fun for all ages to enjoy. Canute Day will take place Saturday, June 4, 2022 on historic Route 66.
The morning of Canute Day will start off with townwide garage sales. Throughout the day attendees can shop several vendors and enjoy a multitude of food trucks set up around Friends Pub & Pizza. A silent auction will take place inside Friends that will feature items from various businesses.
The excitement of the parade will start at 11:00 am. For parade entry and more information contact Isaiah Franklin at 580-374-7996.
Closest to the Pin golf challenge will take place from noon to 2:00 at the Canute RT 66 Park, and the golf cart poker run will begin at 2:00. Those who wish to participate may register at Friends.
“Just remember, while Canute is golf cart friendly, golf carts are not allowed on Rt 66 or 9th St,” mentioned McRee. “Get your golf carts decorated and come join the fun!”
Other delightful activities include corn hole tournaments, car cruise and a cook-off contest. For cook-off contest information, contact Robert Kamphaus at 580-472-3388.
Attendees can also expect to experience Dean Jackson Band that evening at Friends, enjoy the dunk tank provided by Foss Fire Department and shop merchandise from the Canute Fire Department. For information regarding food truck or organization participation, contact McRee at 580-799-1740 or Kathy Schones 580-303-0363.
Lastly, an Indian taco fundraiser will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Canute Fire Station, located at 4th Street, for Paul Warnke’s cancer battle fundraiser. “CPR66 was formed to help revitalize and get the community active in restoring, promoting and drawing attention to not only Rt 66 but to our wonderful community. We are hoping for a great turnout this year,” expressed McRee.
