Pair faces possible 20 year sentence for felony charges

On March 29th officers from Cordell Police Department and the Washita County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at a home located at 716 North College Street in Cordell. The residence was occupied by Ronald Ring and Amy Lemons.

Officers were met at the door by Lemons and she complied with orders to go directly to the officer in the front yard.

After gaining entrance, officers encountered Ring , and after ordering him to stay still and put his hands up Ring bent at the waist as if he were reaching for something either in his waist band or near his person. Ring had been known to possibly have a pistol in his possession.

Officers Stewart and Weatherly used necessary force to secure and detain Ring.

During their search of the residence and a black Chevrolet pickup parked outside, officers found paraphernalia commonly used for packaging and distribution of illegal substances as well as for consuming these substances.

Also found was approximately 82.5 grams of methamphetamine, multiple bags of pills that were identified as Class 2 Controlled Substances, and approximately 43 grams of marijuana.

In addition, live security system viewing the outside of the residence with a monitor located in the master bedroom of the residence.

Both Ring and Lemons were booked into the Washita County Jail with multiple charges.

Count 1: Trafficking in illegal drugs, a felony, is punishable by a fine of $25,000 to $250,00 and/or imprisonment of up to 20 years.

Count 2: Possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a misdemeanor, is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and/or imprisonment for up to one year.

Count 3: Using a security system to avoid detection during the commission of a felony, a felony, is punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and/or up to 5 years imprisonment.
