Cordell Blue Devil Faculty Spotlight Kodie Price

This week our Cordell Blue Devil Faculty Spotlight is Kodie Price. This is her first year teaching at Cordell Elementary and she has been a light for many of her students. Read more about Mrs. Price and what inspired her to be a teacher.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Kodie Price and I have been married to my husband, Brett, for 3 years. We have just added to our family, twins, Brodie and Bryn. As a family we enjoy going to the farm, spending time with our family and friends, and playing with our dog, Maya. This is my third year teaching at my precious school I taught kindergarten. This is my first year here at Cordell and I am teaching second grade.

What would your students be surprised to know about you?

I was able to do a back-handspring and a back flip when I was a kid! Now, I can only do a cartwheel!

What has been a memorable moment from your teaching career?

A recent memorable moment was receiving cards from my students after having the twins. Their cards were heartfelt and so kind. I enjoyed reading each of them and will cherish them always.

What was it that made you want to be a teacher?

My first grade teacher, Mrs. Kinder, is who inspired me to be a teacher. She made coming to school enjoyable and showed each student how much she cared for them. She has become a mentor and a friend over the years. I am extremely grateful for her.

If money was no object, what would you have in your classroom and why?

I would love to have an endless supply of science experiments so that my students could learn through observations and hands on learning!

What motivates you to be the best teacher you can be for your students? What are your intentions when you walk into the classroom?

My students motivate me to be the best teacher. Each one of my students has a special place in my heart and I must reach each of them individual by trying to be the best for them. My intentions when I walk into my classroom is that my students know they are safe, loved, and cared for. I hope they know how much I care for them and want the best for them. I hope they know I will always be rooting for them to be successful in whatever endeavors they choose to do in life.

When you’re not teaching, how do you like to spend your time?

When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, crocheting, spending time outdoors, and being with my family.

Do you have any advice for your students?

Always be kind and try your best.
