Corn Bible Academy (CBA) had two seniors, out of a class of 11 students, who became National Merit Finalists this year.
Harrison Penner is the son of Hal and Geneva Penner of Weatherford, OK. He plans to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University and pursue a degree in biomedical science and then become an optometrist. Penner received perfect ACT score of 36. He will be named Valedictorian of his class and he has a 4.0 GPA. Penner plays basketball and made the Washita Valley All-Conference Team this year. He is actively involved in drama, choir and student council at CBA. Penner is a candidate for the US Presidential Program.
Isaiah Thiessen is the son of Aaron and Carillion Thiessen of Corn, OK. He plans to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Although his major is undeclared, he wants to focus on physics and chemistry. He plans to pursue graduate work in particle and nuclear physics with an eventual goal of becoming a professor in said subjects. Thiessen received an almost perfect ACT score of 35. He will be named Salutatorian of his class and has a 4.0 GPA. Thiessen enjoys golf and is actively involved in drama, choir and band at CBA.
The two seniors are on the Corn Bible Academy Academic Team. The team won first at State two years in a row (Class A) and will be going to State again this year in April.
Penner is the team captain and Thiessen is the highest-scoring player this year.
Both Penner and Thiessen are the MVPs of the academic team and are candidates for All-State Academic Team.
