Mckenna Wedel
Mckenna Wedel’s ambitions and efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. Along with being an outstanding young individual, she also plans to make a difference through teaching one day. Her active and impressive involvement with FFA has landed her as this week’s Cordell Blue Devil Student Spotlight. Read more about Mckenna Wedel and what she is most excited about for the second half of the school year.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am 18 years old and I am a senior this year. My favorite class in school has been Coach Blackburn’s class. Everyday I would walk in Coach Blackburn’s room and he would have a new story for us and it never got old. I have three dogs, Libby, Maggie, and Rowdy. My favorite hobbies are hanging out with my friends, working at Mike’s Meats, and showing pigs.
How has your senior year been so far?
Being a senior, this school year has flown by for me. I have been very busy with FFA activities, taking college classes and working.
What have been some of your favorite memories from during your time in school?
My all time favorite memories have been at FFA events. This year we went to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis and I made so many memories. The trip was full of life advice from Mr. Selman and many laughs from us girls.
What has been your favorite part of school and why?
My favorite part of school is seeing my friends everyday and being a teacher’s aide for Mrs. Wedel.
Are you in any extracurricular activities?
I am the FFA Chapter President this year. I have shown pigs since I was 9 years old and have shown chickens for two years. I am a part of the student council and am the secretary of my class.
What are you most excited for this school year?
This year I am most excited to show my pigs at the Oklahoma Youth Expo in OK, go to the State FFA Convention and receive my State FFA Degree, and go to prom.

My parents are Greg and Karla Wedel
What is it that motivates you to try to do well in class?
My future in education is what motivates me to try my best in school. I strive to be the student I wish to have in my classroom someday.
What do you do when you’re not in school?
When I’m not in school I am a country girl at heart. I enjoy doing anything outside whether it be shooting guns, fishing, checking cattle, I love it all.
What are your plans looking like for after you graduate? What type of career do you want to try and pursue?
After I graduate I am going to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I plan on getting my degree in Elementary Education.
