Stephen Fite is back for a fun-filled show at Cordell Elementary

Stephen Fite, a YouTube sensation and award-winning childrens’ musician and writer is making his way to Cordell once again for another exciting performance.

Fite, with Melody House Inc, creates fun-tastic and interactive music for the classroom, living room or car. Melody House Inc, along with their award-winning artists, pride themselves in expanding the minds of children through interactive music and physical performances.

“I have been doing this type of concert that I will be doing in Cordell since 1995. I have been performing to children in a concert setting since 1985,” said Fite. “My grandfather had a company called Melody House, which is the company that I work for today and it was an educational recording company. I started working there in 1981 and one day my grandfather asked me to try and write some music for the company. I said okay, I’ll give it a shot!

I wrote an album and that was the beginning of it. After that I started doing workshops for teachers and then started doing the concerts for the kids. The rest is history as they say.”

Cordell has been on the concert tour list with Fite for around l5 years. Within the last 15 years, Fite has continued to perform memorable concerts that leave lasting memories for the students of Cordell Elementary.

After having to take a break from performing due to the severity of the pandemic, Fite said he is excited to be back on stage sharing his passion with the children once again in this type of setting.

With Cordell being a sold out show, the main goal and takeaway this year is to have a wonderful time. Fite hopes that this will help the children enjoy some normalcy since the past two years have been tough on them, especially the younger ones who have no concept of what’s really happening around them.

Fite writes music that is intended to not only be educational for the listener but to also match the active nature of the child, and in doing so, provides the children, teachers and their parents with music that will ultimately give them the opportunity to move, dance, participate, listen and most importantly, have fun.

“One of the things I always tell people who ask me what do I get from this? What makes me keep doing this? What drives me? It really all comes back to what happens before the performance, during and after the performance,” explains Fite.

“After the concert is over and they’re all walking out, it’s amazing to me how many of them will come up to me and high five me or even want to give me a big hug before they leave. That lets me know that I really made a difference, that I connected with them and that they were excited about getting to see this type of show.”

The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 19. For only $3 per student, they get to have an amazing time and experience a performance like never before. Parents can trust that the type of music that will be performed during the concert is fun and social educational. This is a concert were the children get to take part in and learn wonderful concepts such as how to be an audience member and manners, but also take in the educational concepts that they’ll learn.

Most importantly they will get to have a lot of fun and enjoy being a kid. “Their children are going to have a wonderful time. They are going to be able to experience something that not a lot of children get to experience in their lifetime,” expressed Fite.

“They’re going to get to go to an honest to goodness show and take part in the arts. Hopefully they’ll garner a greater love for music and movement.”
