Christmas comes on a fire truck for some local kids

On the night of Tuesday, Dec. 21, the Cordell Fire Department (CFD) delivered Angel Tree presents for Code Blue Gym. “The Cordell Fire Department has been involved in delivering presents for the Angel Tree for a very long time,” said firefighter Jason Dudgeon. “I helped CFD with the Angel Tree in 2016 and got to see what it meant to the families that year. I have always loved helping kids and have loved being a part of this. Chief Slaughterback has made sure we continue to be a part of the Angel Tree for years and I know all the families of CFD enjoy being able to help the community.”

Code Blue and Wookies Tattoo & Body Piercing worked together this Christmas to help out as many local families as they could. “I got some names from the tree [at Code Blue]. I did about 15 kids in total. With help from Levi, the guys at the CFD and Debbie Holland, it was smooth and easy. It was great seeing the community step up and support the Toy drive. Very humbling to be back home and still have all the love and support from my community,” said Rachel Jones with Wookies Tattoo & Body Piercing. Code Blue gave a big thank you shout out to Wookies for helping with the Angel Tree using the toys from their toy drive and the CFD for helping deliver the presents. Code Blue said that they all helped over 70 children have a Christmas this year. “Rachel helped out so much from her toy drive! We were able to add toys to the gifts and help out more kids. The fire department is also a big help because so many of the little kids love to see the fire trucks pull up and hand them gifts,” stated Candace Dudgeon of Code Blue. “It’s a lot of work but definitely worth it knowing these kids will have presents to open Christmas morning [and] knowing they will have clothes, coats/hoodies and a few of their favorite interests.” There are not enough deserving words of gratitude for those that help out and give back to their community.
