Saturday, Dec. 4, the Cordell Fire Department burned down an unsound house on the northwest side of town at Dena and 13th. The purpose of the controlled burn was to serve as a live-fire training exercise for Cordell’s firefighters.
Just like on the scene of a working fire, conducting a live-fire training will ensure that operations will run safely and fluently at a time where mistakes are unaffordable.
The use of live-fire training is extremely essential for the health and safety of the department, community and your local firefighters.
It’s exceedingly important for every fire department to ensure the proper measures are in place for firefighter safety. As a firefighter, they must know how to navigate highly dangerous occurrences, avoid preventable injuries, and safeguard their fellow firefighters along with the community they serve.
