Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m Nathan Jackson. I am 17 years old and I’ve lived in Cordell my entire life. I love my family, friends, music, skateboarding, and The Legend of Zelda.

How has your school year been so far?

It’s been a lot more relaxed this year. I managed to get a lot of my core credit classes out of the way last year, so I can do the specific classes I enjoy now. It’s looking like it’ll be a great year!

What have been some of your favorite memories from during your time in school?

Definitely the numerous band events I’ve gone on with some great friends. Getting to know people through auditions, competitions, and honor bands has always been fun. Music is a blast!

What has been your favorite part of school and why?

My favorite part of school is obviously band, but I really have enjoyed many of the classes I’ve taken. I’ve also enjoyed some of the other extracurricular activities, like academic team meets that I have had the opportunity to attend.

Who are your parents? Dean and Jodi Jackson

What motivates you to do well in class?

I would like to be successful in life and I find that classes can help show students a bit of what it’s like to hold responsibilities later in life. Also, it feels very mentally healthy to learn things and solve problems.

What do you do when you’re not in school? Do you have any hobbies?

I skateboard all the time and I mess around with guitars a bit. I think it would be very fun to eventually become a professional skateboarder or a performer of music, but I have quite a lot to learn before then.

What are your plans looking like for after you graduate? What type of career do you want to try and pursue?

I plan on going to college at SWOSU for two years and then finishing out my bachelor’s degree at UCO with either a major or minor in music. I would like to pursue a career in either music or psychology of some sort afterwords. Things are very much subject to change though.

Are you in any sports, clubs or other extracurricular activities?

I’m involved in band, academic team and e-sports. I am also President of junior class this year.

What are you most excited for this year?

I am very excited to hopefully attend Shortgrass and All-Region Honor Bands. After auditions, kids from many different towns meet for two days to play in a band together.
