With her endeavor to succeed and school spirit, Brooklyn Burkeen has shown why she was chosen as this week’s Cordell Blue Devil Student Spotlight. Brooklyn let us know that she strives to work hard in school and do the best she can to rise above.

•Can you tell us a bit about yourself? For example your favorite class, favorite thing about school, do you have any pets, hobbies, etc.
My favorite class is my Algebra 1 class. My favorite teacher is Mr. Holman. My favorite thing about school is helping my peers. I enjoy playing basketball, riding four wheelers with my cousins Kimber and Kaylor, and learning to drive.
•How has your school year been so far?
My school year has been fun, exciting, and eventful because I have moved back to Cordell Schools and been reunited with my old friends and family. I’ve enjoyed Football Friday and dressing up on each Friday and going to the football games to support our Blue Devils. I am looking forward to this basketball season and I can’t wait to start soccer.
•What have been some of your favorite memories from during your time in school?
Some of my favorite memories this year are supporting our football team, Homecoming week, and doing fun class activities with my friends. I’m ready to make some more memories with my basketball and soccer team.
•What has been your favorite part of school and why?
My favorite part of school has been working hard in each of my classes and on being the best I can be because I like to succeed. I feel that by working hard and getting good grades the sky is the limit to what I can achieve!
•Are you in any sports, clubs, or other extra curricular activities? For example art, FFA, Ag, academic team, band, etc.
I am currently participating in basketball and Student Council. I enjoy our art class with Coach Mitchell. And I will be playing soccer during the spring.
•What are you most excited for this school year?
I am really excited about playing basketball! Really just playing sports in general.
•Who are your parents?

•What is it that motivates you to try to do well in class?
I want to strive to work hard and do the best I can in school. I know that getting an education is important to help me better myself in life. Because the better grades I have, the easier chance I have getting into a good college.
•What do you do when you’re not in school? Do you have any hobbies like playing video games, sports, playing outside, etc.?
I liked practicing basketball outside with my cousins. I enjoy sitting around hanging out with my homies and watching Tik Toks.
•What are your plans looking like for after you graduate? What type of career do you want to try and pursue?
I want to graduate top of my class. Then, I would like to go to college at John Hopkins University to study medicine and get my doctorate. Then I want to go into the medical field to be a Cardio Thoracic surgeon.
