Burns Flat-Dill City 4-H club weekly report

The Burns Flat-Dill City Sr. 4-H club has been very active during the last year, and it has culminated with members entering their winning projects in the 114th State Fair of Oklahoma. Projects that placed first at the Washita County Fair competed against projects from across the state. Four members; Kathryn Sirmon, Jamee Prator, Evie Denny and Brance Barnett had over 30 entries with 25 of those winning a ribbon by placing in the top 10. Placings include: two 1sts, four 2nds, five 3rds, two 4ths, five 5ths, two 6ths, four 7ths, one 8th, one 9th and one 10th. Congratulations to all the winners.

WAC (West Action Conference) is an upcoming district meeting to be held in October in Weatherford, Oklahoma. There will be to Burns Flat-Dill City members attending this fun and informative meeting. Our members will have the opportunity to participate in service learning projects and informative workshops to take our projects to the next level. The highlight of the conference is choosing a leadership team for the 21-22 school year. Our president, Kathryn Sirmon has submitted an application to run for a district office. She will be very busy meeting new people and campaigning for votes. Kathryn says the reason she chose to seek office is “I would like to be more involved in 4-H.” Good luck Kathryn.

National 4-H week is October 3rd - October 9th. The Washita County Commissioners graciously sign a proclamation each year to recognize this event. Members present to watch the proceedings Monday, September 27th were, Kathryn Sirmon, Jamee Prator, Evie Denny, Brance Barnett and Mrs. Mason, BF-DC leader.

Members attended a local meeting on Saturday, September 25, 2021 to candy bouquets to gift to the commissioners as a “Thank you” for recognizing 4-H. The bouquets were also given to other members attending.
