Cordell Schools’ faculty get credit they deserve

As Cordell Schools’ faculty prepared for the start of the new school year, one local business decided to show some appreciation towards them.

Last week during the teachers’ and staffs’ school-prep period, Equity Bank in Cordell decided to cater a meal to show Cordell School faculty some appreciation.

“Equity Bank is a real big supporter of the school,” market president Clint Lively said. “If [teachers] need help on a project or whatever, we’re always willing to help.”

On top of providing faculty with lunch, Equity Bank also provided teachers with school supplies such as tissues, notepads, markers, and hand sanitizer.

A raffle was also held during the lunch where faculty had the chance to win cash prizes.

“It was a really good meal and such a nice thing for them to do,” first grade teacher Lisa Griffith said.

Though this was the first year providing the lunch, Lively said Equity Bank hopes to continue doing so in the coming years.

According to Lively, Equity Bank is continuing to work on other classroom sponsorships they currently have set up to assist the school in whatever way they can.

One such effort is their current and ongoing “Bank on Reading” campaign.

“When a new customer comes to the bank to open an account and mentions ‘Bank on Reading’, we donate $25 to the school for like books and stuff,” personal banker Amy Tittle said.
