County’s virus numbers keep rising

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports that Washita County’s number of people testing positive for COVID-19 jumped again some throughout the past week.

The total number testing positive in the county is now 738. It was 660 a week ago, an increase of 78 over last week. Two weeks ago the number was 585 was and three weeks ago it stood at 517.

Of the 738 cases, 612 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Cordell has reported 211 positive cases, the most in the county. Of those, 179 have recovered. Last week there were 195 positive cases. Of those, 165 had recovered.

Burns Flat, which had 87 a week ago, now has 106 positive cases, the second highest number in the county. Of those, 81 have recovered, the OSDH said.

Burns Flat also has one of the reported deaths in the county.

Canute has 101, up from the 94 last week and has the third highest number in the county. Sentinel has 77. Of the 101 cases in Canute, 85 have recovered and 71 have recovered in Sentinel.

Other communities in Washita County reporting positive cases and the number recovered include: Dill City 46 and 31; Rocky 24 and 22.

Statewide as of Monday, 282,597 have tested positive, there have been deaths 2,383 and 244,676 who have recovered. Active cases stand at 35,528 the OSDH said.

Last week there were 263,434 testing positive, there had been 2,218 deaths and 202,532 had recovered. There were 36,544 active cases a week ago.

This week on Monday, the OSDH reported more than 3,400 new positive cases confirmed and 13 additional deaths.

The OSDH reports more than 2,251,317 people have tested negative.
